Life after high school is basically life before college for those that will continue with education. One constant though for everyone is that everything changes. You get a whole new understanding of life; you lose and gain new friends and you gain new experiences. Although people may disagree, some claim that life is better after high school. I will therefore describe the positive aspects of life after high school before giving an opposite view.
Some Good Things That Happen After High School
After completing high school and joining the workforce, you will be viewed with more respect than before. Your parents won’t just treat you or converse with you as they did in the past. Additionally, acting maturely and letting go of harmful habits earns you greater respect. Planning for college is done many years prior to completion of high school and the immediate months following completion of high school. You may never meet some of your friends after high school and some of them totally change. The new friendships formed open you up to new social settings, planning trips locally and abroad.
Freedom that Comes with Completing High School
Once you graduate from high school and college, freedom is the biggest advantage you will have. You have more freedom now than you had in college. Oddly enough, your parents will acknowledge that you are an adult and will provide you the independence you want. Since your parents aren’t present and nobody will advise you on what to do or not do, you have the greatest freedom. At college you choose the lessons and activities you wish to participate in, including parties, meetings, and sports. When you graduate from high school, things like punishment for being late to class or failing to do an assignment disappear. No one chooses your timetable. You’re not being told when to get up by anybody. You don’t have a parent instructing you when and what to eat, and no one is forcing you to take care of your business; those are your responsibilities, and you get to decide how they are carried out. The way you spend your time is entirely up to you.
How do I take whatever life throws at me after high school?
Being open-minded is the best trick. Have several options about what you would like to do. This way, if plan A doesn’t work, you can always fall on plan B. However, do not underestimate yourself. Grab opportunities that come your way without feeling like you do not deserve them.
Sometimes Things Change and Not for the Better
When discussing life beyond high school, this is one topic that needs greater emphasis. Some people may have been the top students in their classes in high school but do not get admitted to tertiary institutions of their choice. Everyone experiences this, so don’t let it get you down, it is the start of life beyond high school. As the brain continues to develop, even though some people do not become life smart, the overall decision-making capability increases. Adults often get so preoccupied with their own activities that they fail to notice other adults engaging in behavior they formerly would have been bullied for. The bullied high school kids begin to show attributes in life that make them even likable. The bullies themselves become more mature and stop looking down on others.
Money becomes a very important resource. As people say, money makes the world go round and this is true. If lucky, you land a good job after college and can make ends meet. If you are unlucky you struggle with jobs, some people require taking up several jobs just to make ends meet. This is especially tough since in high school everything is often provided for.
Conclusion
Being able to make choices as an adult certainly has advantages and disadvantages. Make excellent ones, or at the very least, be certain to reduce the poor ones. For some, the decision making and having to take care of themselves wears them down and for others life absolutely hands them good cards and it keeps on getting better.

Many people choose to travel, do some charity work, start small businesses, join the military, or learn a new skill. There are endless things to do after high school. Even just sitting and doing nothing is acceptable since this may be the last time you may get a break before you start adulting.
Should I go to college after high school?
If you have the resources, you should definitely go to college after high school. College world opens you up to a world of new possibilities and you get to learn a whole lot more that you did your previous years. College graduates also have higher perspective in their careers than high school graduates.
