Taking a flight is now just another preferred way of transportation, that used to be considered luxurious and a privilege back then. These days, people from all economic levels could book a flight ticket without pouring down the drain because airline companies are providing tickets at affordable prices.

Now, booking a flight for your vacation or business purposes is just a few clicks away. You can browse for your flights and hotels during your lunch break—and even better—from one app only! With Hopper, you can get it all done—no fuss, no muss.

You can make your payment with the various payment methods offered, however, unfortunately, Hopper has not yet provided payment plans. Nevertheless, the payment for a few selected bookings can be split. Below are the explanation and alternative methods you can use to pay at Hopper! You will also find more elaborations on Hopper’s features.

Payment methods at Hopper

Hopper accepts authorized debit, credit, and/or prepaid card that is linked to your hopper account. You can change your preferred payment method over time or add more.

Every time you add a new payment method, Hopper will temporarily charge you $1 to confirm that your payment method is valid. You should not worry as it will withdraw the $1 charge as soon as Hopper authorizes your card!

As for hotel bookings, there is the “Pay Later” option where you can pay the booking fee when you reserve it, the one night’s room, and tax prior to check-in, and then the remaining amount upon check-in. You can read further information about this here.

Note that you cannot change a payment method once a booking has been made.

Hopper’s special feature: Price Freeze for Flights

Hopper provides Price Freeze for Flights, which might be a feature that you have not seen so often. What is it and how does it work?

Have you ever experienced a moment where you just found a cheap flight to your favorite destination, but you know that it won’t be wise for you to buy it right away because you have other responsibilities, so you just feel like you want to freeze this price so that it won’t go higher?

The Price Freeze feature makes it possible now to do so! With this feature from Hopper, you can “freeze” the price of a flight you want to book by paying a specific amount—that is relatively small—as a deposit. Hopper will then provide you with an expiration date for you to complete your payment. If you wish to cancel the flight, your deposit will not be refunded.

Now, your intention to freeze the flight price is because you do not want to pay a higher amount. But what if it does increase? Who will cover the additional fees?

Hopper will do it! After you successfully freeze a price, you will receive a confirmation along with other essential information. For instance, how much Hopper will cover the increase if it ever occurs. And better yet, if the price drops lower than the amount you initially see and pay with the Price Freeze feature, you just need to pay the lower price! Your deposit will be deducted from the total amount at checkout.

Terms of Service

While you can see the full terms of service of Price Freeze here, you can also read the summarized points below.

To freeze a price, you have to pay a certain service fee. This fee applies individually, which means that you will have to pay for 2 (two) service fees if you are booking with the Price Free for two people. This fee is non-refundable.  The price that you froze will stay there for a specific period of time. The time frame (e. g. , 3, 5, 7 days) will be specified at the final stage of confirmation when you want to purchase.  Price Freeze is specified, meaning that there shall not be any changes in flights, times, dates, cabin classes, or other information that you provide in the first place. Make sure that you fill in this information carefully.  When you want to complete the payment, you just have to pay the price indicated in your Price Freeze, even when the current price is higher. You will need to pay a specific amount that may exceed the Service Cap.  Service Cap is the maximum amount that Hopper will pay for if the price increases. The exact amount will be stated clearly in the confirmation email. If the rise exceeds the amount that is stated in the Service Cap, Hopper will have the right to charge the current airline ticket price (minus the Service Cap) to your preferred method. Note that when Hopper does not state any Service Cap, Hopper will be fully responsible for the full amount of any price increase.  Should you use the Price Freeze, Hopper will use your fee against payment of the frozen price and Hopper will pay the remaining amount (up to the stated amount in the Savings Cap)If you do not complete the payment in the specified time or you choose not to, then the amount in the Price Freeze will expire and Hopper will not be responsible to sell the tickets at the specified price anymore. If you choose to purchase that specified airline ticket after the Price Freeze expires, you will be required to pay a new and different ticket price which may be higher than the price specified in the Price Freeze.  The Price Freeze feature guarantees the price of the stated ticket and not the availability of any ticket or any class. If, by the time you choose to complete the payment of the Price Freeze, and the ticket or cabin class stated is sold out, Hopper will let you know and refund your fee. Hopper will try to provide you with a similar ticket from the same or different airlines. If you agree to it, Hopper will be the one who pays the amount difference between the Price Freeze and the new ticket price (subject to the Service Cap).  The Price Freeze is just a feature to make things easier for you during your travel experience and does not intend to constitute an offer to insure anything.  Should you have any further hesitations or questions, you can just contact them at Hopper’s Customer Support in the Hopper App on the Price Freeze screen.

Price Freeze for Hotels is available too!

Good news, good news! The Price Freeze is also available for your hotel bookings. Pay a small deposit to freeze the price of the hotel you want and come back later to finish your payment when you are ready—as long as you do not exceed the specified time.

You have two options about what you want to freeze:

Best Availability

This one will save you the most! Simply freeze the price of the hotel room you want and fully book it later when you are ready. Note that you are only freezing the price of the hotel room, not the specific room type.

Room Type

Choose this if you already have which bed you want to have for later. This feature guarantees the price based on the bed type (king, queen, double, etc.). Simply choose which room you want and click on the “Price Freeze” button.

Conclusion

As for now, you can only pay your bookings at Hopper with debit, credit, or prepaid card and Hopper has not yet offered payment plans. Nevertheless, Hopper offers the Price Freeze feature that allows you to save up on your flight tickets or hotels!

If you still wish to travel with payment plans, you can try booking with Airbnb or other applications instead.
